Why Tissue Paper Quality Matters
More Than You Think
Virgin Pulp vs Recycled Fiber

Most purchasing decisions for tissue paper come down to one factor: price per roll. But when that tissue is used daily by employees, patients, guests, and customers — the material it's made from matters far more than most people realize.

Virgin Pulp vs Recycled Fiber — What's the Difference?

Virgin Pulp

Fresh Wood Fiber

Produced from freshly processed wood fiber — never used before. Softer, cleaner, no residual contaminants. No optical brightening agents (OBA) needed to appear white.

Recycled Fiber

Post-Consumer Waste

Produced from previously used paper. Lower cost, but recycling process may leave residual sediment, ink traces, or contaminants. Some manufacturers add OBA to make it appear whiter.

Choosing products from manufacturers who clearly state their fiber source — with independently verifiable certifications — is especially important for tissue that comes into direct contact with skin.

Why CENCLEAN Tissue Is Different

Independently Lab-Tested — Not Just Our Claim

CENCLEAN submitted products for independent testing by Thailand's Department of Science Service (DSS), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation — ensuring verifiable results, not just manufacturer claims.

Test results for 2-ply Jumbo Roll Tissue (Lab Operation No. L67/08548.1, tested November 19–21, 2024, per Thai Industrial Standard TIS 214-2560):

Test Parameter CENCLEAN Result TIS Standard Result
Basis Weight (g/m²) 29.5 ≥ 23.0 ✅ Pass
Dirt Area (mm²/m²) 1.5 ≤ 6.0 ✅ Pass
Dirt Count (points/m²) 8 ≤ 20.0 ✅ Pass
pH Level 7.9 5.5–8.5 ✅ Pass

✦ Tested by a government agency — not the company's own laboratory

What the results mean:

Basis Weight 29.5 g/m² — 28% above the minimum standard of 23.0 g/m², indicating high fiber density. Not thin or prone to tearing.

Dirt Area 1.5 mm²/m² — 75% below the maximum limit of 6.0, meaning 4x cleaner than the control threshold. Reflects clean raw materials and controlled production.

pH 7.9 — Near-neutral, close to human skin pH (7.4). Reduces risk of irritation on contact. Especially important for hospitals and healthcare settings.

Two Simple Tests You Can Do Yourself

You don't need a lab to check basic tissue quality. These two tests can be done at home or in your office:

UV Test for OBA optical brighteners in tissue paper — CENCLEAN does not glow under UV, while OBA tissue glows bright blue

UV Test — Standard tissue (left) shows no glow. Tissue containing OBA optical brighteners (right) glows bright blue immediately under UV light.

Water Test comparing tissue paper — recycled pulp changes color or shows dark spots after soaking

Water Test — After soaking, recycled pulp tissue often changes color or shows dark spots. Virgin pulp tissue retains its color and structure.
